First I have to say Happy Birthday to my little girl... she is 8 now!!!

Second I have to say THANK YOU to my wonderful friend Kara!!!! She made the cakes for Katelyn's birthday... what a GREAT JOB she did...

Katelyn has still not let us cut up the big cake.... she wants to keep it forever... although the little cakes went quick there were 8 just like her age.

And here she is our little Kate who is Eight... On a Quilt I just finished.... this is out of the left over squares from a BIG quilt... that still needs to be quilted. I have been hand quilting lap quilts and smaller. I am not very good at this yet. this is my 3rd had quilted project and I am getting better but more practice is still needed.

I used 30's fabric's and some polka dots as the back ground and perry points... they are sure fun.

I had to piece the back as the quilt is not big enough to warrant 108" wide backing... I think it turned out kind of cute.

Finished!!!

Well that quilt I made from scraps, I started a few weeks ago... DONE!!! I hand quilted it. I thought that with all those triangles it needed more for the edge.....

It has already been washed dried and on the bench on the front porch for over a week.... yup I did not take pictures of it until this morning ... I know I am a camera slacker.

while i was getting the pictures of the quilt off the camera I found one of Yoda.... pretty bird.

I am trying to teach him to say... "I'm a pain in the butt."

And this is my little Kate, she is going to be 8 very soon. She is the baby of the family, even the bird is older then Kate. She is a happy child... except for 3 times a day... meal time this one does not like to eat she will be 8 years old in less then 2 weeks and she weighs 51lbs (she is not short). She just does not like food, except tacos in crunchy corn shells.

So it was my birthday... I am now OLD. Well not really but my shoulder hurts, has been for about 2 weeks.. not all the time is it extremely painful but it just aches all the time... and well my good friend at work Dalynn mentioned it might be arthritis. So turning 30 was not bad... turning 40 was not either... I did not think twice about turning 40. But for some odd reason 45 seems to make me feel OLD. I mean really in 5 short years... yup. OUCH how did that happen. Time just marches on... and to quote a movie.. " time marches on and sooner or later it you figure out that it is just marching across your face."

This is the wonderful quilt cake that my friend Kara made...for my birthday. It was really pretty and she did an amazing amazing JOB!!! and the cake had to be the best cake i have had in years... YUM!!!!

OK I did not bake this ... but all I can say is Thank You QFC.....YUMMMM!!!

Oh and Joshua was not all that happy with turning 40... Can you tell?

Ohop Vally

I don't have a new picture to show you of my current project. It is the one pictured below blue triangles... I decided that it needed prairie points for binding red and white check, yup suddenly this turned out to be a great 4th of July Picnic quilt..... and then I decided to hand quilt it... this is about 2/5 done. Which is coming along nicely. I am surprised it is going this quickly. This is my second hand quilted project. I can not wait to finish it. OH!!! Our rental house is done and rented out as of May 1st... to a really nice man. Our rental house is a small farm house in Ohop Valley here in WA state. Here is a picture of the Vally. Last September the old renter left... leaving us a house that needed to be gutted and rebuilt. These renters were there 7 1/2 years.. reminder to self never long term rent again... we always asked if everything was good with the house... and we always heard.. oh yea it is great. Well pipes leaking under the bathroom sink for what must have been about 6 or more years and kitchen sink for 2-3 years. Well that meant tearing every little thing out of the bath and the kitchen so we could get to the damage. uggh... what a trip this has been every weekend except Christmas and Thanks Giving and Easter working to fix up the house. Which I have to say Thanks to my loving and talented husband is looking better then when we lived there. I am jealous of the Kitchen brand new cabinets, counter tops, floor it is the best I have ever seen this house in the 20 years we have owned it. We refinished the Oak floors in the Living room and Dinning room and they really turned out just Beautiful. Maybe next time I will get the picture of the house posted. Have a Great Day!!!

This last weekend i worked on this little project. Here is a picture of the pattern, I loved the little flags. Which is kind of surprising as I do not do to many triangles. OK so really this is my 2nd project ever doing them... yup that is right I have been quilting less then a year. And i have got squares down... but the triangle is a mystery to me. So I took the leap and here is the result.











I think it is pretty good. Well at least it is an OK stab at Triangles.
